Specialties and Training:

My training is centered in Swedish massage with blends of other modalities and techniques such as joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, body rocking, acupressure, neuromuscular techniques (NMT), proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching, myofascial stretching, and abdominal massage.

Favorite Modalities:

At this time I enjoy giving relaxation massages. I enjoy a blended use of Swedish massage with incorporation of forearms and knuckles, using pin-and-stretch, and use of heat for increased relaxation effects.

Philosophy on Healing:

When I give a massage, I look for signs of asymmetries in how the body is moving as a unit and the places where palpable soft tissues are in need of expansion and flow. I use my instincts and training to encourage re- integrating these areas back into the whole connectivity of the body.
I see receiving a massage as an act of trust, and to earn that trust I do my best to conduct each massage with transparency and predictability. I believe everyone is in charge of their own relationship with their bodies and timeline for change. For this reason, I see myself as a facilitator rather than a healer, with a role of creating space to listen to your body and respond in the moment together. Ultimately the body knows when it feels safe enough to relax and release dysfunctional tension.

Exceptional Results:

I’m grateful to have played a helping role when clients have offered feedback such as being able to actually relax when they usually can’t, that they feel like they can breathe more freely, or even little details like a partner noticing that their eyes seemed brighter afterwards!
I don’t think what I do is uniquely exceptional, except that each moment we have to tune inward into feeling is always exceptional.

My favorite story so far is from before I trained in massage. My friend had pain along the left side of their neck and was having trouble turning her head. I sat behind her and spent 30 minutes following my instincts while doing a gentle massage. The next day, she reported her pain was gone! Now that I have my formal training and license, I continue to incorporate my instincts while utilizing my knowledge as well.
