Philosophy on Healing:

Your body is capable, powerful and willing to heal. It can stay healthy and be resistant to injury If you treat it with respect. My job is to help you achieve and make rehabilitation and wellness goals individual to your needs and lifestyle. By being committed to the process, and staying accountable to yourself, we can make huge strides for well being together as a team!

Favorite Modalities:

You might know me best for my deep tissue and sports massage techniques. However, my focus has shifted into providing our clients with a much more subtle and regenerative work using a technique called Bowenwork.

This modality helps the autonomic nervous system (which controls 80% of bodily function) learn to self-regulate by better connecting our brain and body’s ability to find its baseline. This kind of bodywork amazingly helps our body heal itself by using nerve strokes that align with acupressure and acupuncture points.

What is Bowenwork?

Bowenwork is a way of stimulating the nervous, musculoskeletal, fascial and energetic systems of the human body. The technique starts with a few gentle nerve “plucking” movements which is followed by a short wait time to allow the nervous system to flow and respond. Then we go in sequence using strokes and wait time to ripple that effect through your whole body.  This kind of work may be gentle, but is incredibly effective in treating  an array of ailments.

You can expect a Bowen session to last anywhere between 30-60 min according to your needs. Much like acupuncture, sessions are recommended in a series of weekly appointments to fully balance the body. However, it can also be done within a regular massage session or as a singular appointment.

What can Bowenwork treat?:

  • Back Pain
  • Sciatica
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Depression
  • PCOS
  • Infertility issues in men and women
  • Colic in babies
  • Crohn’s disease and other digestive issues
  • earache/ TMJ

And much much MORE!

Bowen shuts off our body’s natural flight/fight response which minimizes inflammation, and creates clarity in our bodies responsiveness. Bowen is gentle enough for anyone to try and has no contraindications for use. From Babies to the elderly, everyone can benefit from the balancing and grounding effects of Bowenwork!

Exceptional Results:

My background is primarily in sports and rehabilitation therapy. Once I worked closely with a high school student preparing to run in his district track meet. He had previously struggled with lower back and knee pain and was eagerly seeking treatment before the big race. We worked together for two months to stabilize his hips and increase his range of motion so that his body could fully utilize his muscles while in stride. He ran the best race of his career up to that point and even qualified to go to the state that year.

A few years back I worked with this amazing client. He was late 40s, a swimmer and a hiker who had had some major setbacks to his active lifestyle. He had two major surgeries on both shoulders which greatly limiting his ability to swim and rotate his arms, along with some lower back surgeries. The accumulating scar tissue was debilitating as he tried to do his favorite things. We worked together tirelessly for a couple years with exercises and bimonthly  massage to break up these adhesions. Now he is living a quality of life he thought he would never be able to again. His perseverance has helped him learn what his body needs to stay supple. Now he is using his knowledge every day as he still practices wellness care.
