Specialties or Training:
- Ashiatsu (barefoot massage), Trigger Point, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, Motor Vehicle Accident Massage, Sports Massage, Chair Massage, and Prenatal Massage.
Favorite Modalities: I particularly enjoy working with Ashiatsu, deep tissue, motor vehicle accident and Swedish massage.
Philosophy on Healing: I personally see and utilize long term and recurring massage therapy sessions as a single element of a vast network of lifestyle choices and treatment methods that can be utilized to enhance my client’s overall health and well-being. It is my prerogative to personalize every treatment session to the unique needs, limitations, and goals of each client. Because Massage therapy is such a dynamic discipline it allows me to create customized, long-term treatment plans to dramatically aide in the improvement of my client’s typical bodily functions, recuperative abilities, and quality of life.
Exceptional Results: I once had the opportunity to work with a woman in her early 50’s who had undergone a knee replacement and was preparing for surgery on her other knee as well. The resulting pain and loss of mobility, in conjunction with severe chronic headaches acquired from long hours in an office chair, left her with a myriad of pain and discomfort in her neck, shoulders, and upper back. Within three weeks of regular weekly sessions, her headaches had almost entirely subsided. With each session I would offer recommendations and advice concerning the causes of her pain and steps she could take on her own to enhance the restorative effect of her massage therapy sessions. She became so enthusiastic about my advice and preserving her posture that she even purchased a new, more ergonomically beneficial handbag and began making a deliberate effort to take more frequent activity breaks at work. She was astonished at the strides she had made in improving her posture, mobility, and quality of life. I felt extremely privileged to be a part of her progress and recovery!
One of my more recent clients had decided to explore massage therapy as a possible treatment for the chronic and severe pain he suffered as a result of his fibromyalgia. His work in construction not only contributed to worsen his pain, it also did not allow him to afford the medication typically prescribed for such pain. After his very first appointment he reported a dramatically reduced level of pain and after several sessions claimed that the pain that he suffered had been diminished to a level he had once thought unobtainable. I was so happy to offer such a life changing level of relief to a person whose situation had seemed so bleak.
